As we come to the  end of  the year and to further the holiday spirit, we’ve taken another perspective on that old favorite ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, taking a look at that night through the eyes and first-hand knowledge of a Data Analyst.

Enjoy.

‘Twas the night before Christmas and I longed for my house

With one hand on the keyboard and one on the mouse

Reviewing the data into the night

Checking a software update that was tight

We all worked from our desks pouring over our keys

Typing to the glow of our overworked PCs

With me in a sweat and my team in a tizzy

Checking every metric, till we were dizzy

But then from my monitor arose such a clatter

I sprang from my chair to see what was the matter

But all I could see were alert storms and warnings

And I regretted what would await in the coming mornings

For you see, I hadn’t known the change one guy made

A last second tweak, that was missed I’m afraid

We had run a deploy script to see what would appear

I crossed my fingers and trembled with fear

I stared at my iphone, as it started to ring wildly

I got 50 messages, and that’s putting it mildly

Our customers were reporting a performance lag

On this Christmas Day my spirits began to sag,

Then servers, hardware, layers, and apps!

I looked everywhere to find the source of the lapse

I struggled valiantly into the night

Hoping to identify the root cause of the glitch by the break of daylight

I reviewed my dashboards for any deviation

Cried and shouted to share my frustration

I searched high and low at a break-neck pace

And combed every parameter of the database

Tomorrow I’d like to wake from this downtime dream

Grateful I’m still a part of the Data Analytics team

And tell you that now I know that our operations are far too complex

That we have to find another way keep track of so many dynamic objects

In the blink of  eye and with a twist of my head

Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.

I spoke not a word, but went straight back to my work,

And I found the right fix with Anodot; then turn’d with a smirk,

And laying a finger aside of my nose

And giving a nod, to my manager I rose.

I sprung from my desk, looked to my team and gave a click,

And knew that AI-powered Analytics would do trick:

And I heard my manager exclaim, that I was absolutely right-

Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night.

We’ve put together a little puzzle for you in the holiday spirit.

Can you find the anomaly?
